How Flexible hourly billing actually works
DigitalOcean, Linode and Vultr receive a monthly cap when the same configuration remains active for the full month. If a server exists for only part of the month, Cloudways calculates active hours. AWS and Google Cloud are always billed hourly without that monthly cap. Stopping a Flexible server does not necessarily stop billing because disk and IP resources remain reserved; deleting it ends future server charges. A clone is another live server and creates its own bill.
Cloudways invoices after usage. Scaling during a billing period splits the charge across the hours spent at each size. AWS and Google Cloud prices also vary by region, storage and transfer, so the launch screen—not a rounded editorial example—is the final quote.

Flexible servers include a managed firewall with IP blocking, supported stack patching, bot and DoS defenses, free Let’s Encrypt SSL, application isolation, account two-factor authentication, SSH/SFTP and a WordPress vulnerability scanner.
