Webshare Proxy Review: Pricing, Features & Which Plan to Choose
Webshare is a strong starting point for buyers who want affordable proxy infrastructure and can manage their own application. Its main attractions are a recurring free datacenter tier, inexpensive shared IP lists, and residential plans that start small. The more important buying decision is choosing the correct network, sharing level and bandwidth allowance.
This review explains what each product does, how the current prices translate into a bill, and which limitations deserve attention before you commit. It also covers targeting, sessions, setup, refunds, fair use and alternatives. For a broader shortlist, start with our guide to the best proxy providers.

Is Webshare Worth Using?
Yes, for a well-matched proxy workload. Its shared datacenter entry plan is inexpensive, and the residential endpoint generator now offers more precise targeting than older reviews describe. It is particularly appealing when your existing scraper or testing tool already handles requests, rendering and parsing.
Budget for the actual configuration. A cheap shared IP is not a dedicated residential exit. Monthly traffic does not roll over, unlimited bandwidth has fair-use conditions, and a free datacenter test does not establish residential performance.
Our recommendation: test the smallest appropriate product against your actual destinations. Upgrade sharing, bandwidth or location controls only when the pilot identifies a need. If you want finished records or managed retrieval, compare that service separately.

The serviceWhat Does Webshare Actually Provide?
Webshare sells proxy access: your application sends traffic through a provider endpoint, and the destination sees the selected exit IP. Its core products are datacenter proxy servers, static residential/ISP proxies, and rotating residential proxies. Each serves a different purpose and has its own pricing logic.
The company became part of Oxylabs through an acquisition announced in 2022. That relationship is useful background, but it does not mean a Webshare subscription includes another brand’s tools, support contract or entire network. Evaluate the product and terms you actually buy.
For a scraper, a proxy is one component. Your client still needs to manage scheduling, timeouts, retries, cookies and data extraction. If a task needs browser rendering, you also need a browser in your stack. An API for managing proxy connections is different from a managed scraping API that returns completed records.

Choose two thingsProxy Type and Sharing Level Are Separate Decisions
| Product | Where the exit comes from | Typical reason to choose it | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Datacenter / Proxy Server | Server-hosted IP infrastructure. | Low-cost requests to permitted destinations that accept datacenter exits. | A destination may recognize and reject the IP range. |
| Static residential / ISP | ISP-allocated addresses hosted on servers. | Longer address continuity and an ISP-associated network identity. | It is not the same as routing through a real household device. |
| Rotating residential | A pool of residential exit devices. | Geographic selection and changing exits across independent requests. | Traffic is metered, and individual peers may disconnect. |
Datacenter proxies: the economical first test
Start here when the job only needs a different exit IP and your destinations accept server-hosted traffic. More expensive residential traffic is unnecessary if a datacenter connection already returns the required data reliably. Webshare’s datacenter product page advertises coverage in more than 50 countries, but country availability depends on the selected tier and inventory.
If requests fail because the destination rejects datacenter networks, buying a larger quantity of the same kind of address may not improve the result. Diagnose whether the problem is address reputation, rate limits, authentication or a client error before spending more.
Static residential/ISP: useful continuity, with a distinction
These addresses are associated with residential ISPs but hosted on servers. They can be useful for authorized workflows that benefit from a stable exit. An IP-checking service may classify a server-hosted ISP address differently from a household connection; that is a reason to test the destination, not assume every “residential” label means the same infrastructure.
Static also does not mean permanent. Confirm what happens during replacement, plan changes and renewal. Keep recovery logic for an address change, particularly if the application uses cookies, authentication or a multi-step interaction.
Rotating residential: target locations and meter traffic
The residential product page advertises an 80M+ IP pool across 195 countries. Those are provider-reported figures, not a count of simultaneously available addresses in every location. The practical question is how many suitable exits you can reach with your chosen country, city or network filters.
Use rotation for independent requests; use a sticky session for related requests that should keep the same exit. Neither choice automatically handles website permissions, browser state or page parsing.
| Sharing level | Meaning in Webshare’s product range | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| Shared / standard | Multiple customers can use the same address. | Lowest cost, but other users can affect reputation or contention. |
| Private | Limited sharing rather than exclusive ownership. Product descriptions allow up to two other users; a general help article gives a narrower description. | Confirm the specific plan’s sharing limit. Do not interpret “private” as dedicated. |
| Dedicated | Address allocated exclusively to your account among Webshare customers while assigned. | Useful for isolation, but does not guarantee a clean prior history or target acceptance. |
Test before buyingWhat Can You Do With the Free Plan?
Webshare’s free tier provides 10 datacenter proxies and 1 GB of monthly traffic, with no card required and no fixed trial countdown. It is a sensible way to verify that your browser, command-line client or application accepts the connection settings.
Keep the first test small. Check authentication, confirm the exit IP, fetch a permitted sample page, and inspect how quickly usage appears in the dashboard. A browser loading images and scripts consumes more data than the HTML alone, so avoid treating 1 GB as unlimited browsing.
The free tier does not establish how a paid residential pool performs, whether a precise location is available, or how a large job behaves at high concurrency. Webshare’s troubleshooting guidance also distinguishes the free network from paid products. Test the intended paid product before extrapolating from a free connection.
Best use of the free plan: establish that your integration works, then move to the smallest relevant paid allocation. If you need residential exits, do not spend days optimizing a datacenter sample and assume the result answers the residential question.
USD · September 17, 2026Webshare Pricing: Current Packages and What They Include
The following figures are public monthly offers. Residential prices reflect the displayed discounts; they are not guaranteed renewal rates. Taxes, optional settings, country selection and custom configurations can change the checkout total. Annual subscriptions are separate: inspect the amount charged upfront rather than treating a monthly equivalent as a one-month purchase.
| Product / sharing | IP quantity | Listed monthly total | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared datacenter | 100 | $2.99 | About $0.0299 per IP; bandwidth applies to the plan. |
| Shared datacenter | 1,000 | $26.91 | A larger IP list is not automatically the unlimited-bandwidth configuration. |
| Private datacenter | 25 | $18.52 | Displayed discounted total; unit label on the page is inconsistent. |
| Private datacenter | 100 | $66.30 | Limited-sharing product, not exclusive allocation. |
| Dedicated datacenter | 20 | $26.60 | Exclusive allocation among Webshare customers. |
| Dedicated datacenter | 100 | $119.00 | Different sharing level from the $2.99 shared package. |
| Standard static residential / ISP | 20 | $6.00 | Standard/shared ISP allocation. |
| Standard static residential / ISP | 100 | $30.00 | Private and dedicated ISP configurations cost separately. |
| Standard static residential / ISP | 1,000 | $270.00 | Confirm bandwidth and location settings for the final quote. |

Rotating residential monthly packages
| Included traffic | Monthly total | Cost per included GB |
|---|---|---|
| 1 GB | $3.50 | $3.50 |
| 10 GB | $27.50 | $2.75 |
| 25 GB | $65.00 | $2.60 |
| 50 GB | $122.50 | $2.45 |
| 100 GB | $225.00 | $2.25 |
| 250 GB | $500.00 | $2.00 |
| 500 GB | $875.00 | $1.75 |
| 1,000 GB | $1,500.00 | $1.50 |
| 3,000 GB | $4,200.00 | $1.40 |
Calculated from the monthly totals above. A lower unit rate requires a larger purchase and does not establish a lower cost per useful result.
Buy for expected consumption, not the lowest unit rate
Compare a 10 GB package used fully with a 100 GB package that delivers only 10 GB before the billing cycle resets. The first costs $27.50; the second still costs $225. Their effective costs are $2.75 and $22.50 per consumed GB. Buying excess allowance can erase the advertised volume saving.
Estimate a starting budget from measured transfer sizes. In decimal units, 10,000 requests averaging 1 MB each use about 10 GB before additional retries or overhead. If 20% more equally sized requests are required, the estimate rises to 12 GB. Actual provider accounting and full browser assets can make the measured amount different.
Choose a package that fits a realistic month, not a hypothetical future peak. Keep alerts for usage growth and review the next tier only when actual consumption supports it. Do not use the 3,000 GB rate to price a 1 GB purchase.
The limits that matterBandwidth, Monthly Resets and Unlimited Fair Use
Webshare’s bandwidth help page says the allowance applies to the whole plan, not to each proxy. Monthly limits reset at the next billing cycle and unused bandwidth does not roll over. Exhausting a capped allowance stops the proxies from functioning until the applicable limit or plan changes.
The dashboard can also show projected usage. That is an estimate based on the current rate of consumption, not necessarily traffic already transferred. Check actual usage before diagnosing an unexpected charge or exhausted balance.
| Network | Shared | Private | Dedicated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Datacenter | 1,000 IPs | 100 IPs | 75 IPs |
| Static residential / ISP | 100 IPs | 100 IPs | 50 IPs |
Source: Webshare bandwidth-limit help page, checked September 17, 2026. These quantities establish eligibility to select an option; they do not mean every qualifying IP package includes it at the entry price.
For high-throughput work, ask for the exact unlimited configuration, fair-use threshold and expected behavior after the threshold in the quote. Do not interpret these limits as an allowance on metered rotating-residential plans. Those use the separately purchased GB package.
Also distinguish connection concurrency from bandwidth. A plan that permits more simultaneous connections can still run out of traffic. Too many workers can increase retries and waste allowance without improving useful throughput. Set client-side limits and stop a runaway job rather than relying only on dashboard warnings.
More than country selectionTargeting, Sessions, Authentication and the API
Current residential documentation adds detail missing from older Webshare reviews. The endpoint generator supports country and city selection, ASN targeting, and US state or ZIP filters. Availability depends on the pool, and these capabilities should not be assumed for every datacenter or static product.
| Setting | Documented behavior | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Default user, sub-user or authorized IP. | Choose credentials appropriate for the client’s source network. |
| Location | Country plus supported location filters; state and ZIP are US-specific. | Copy updated generated settings after changing the selection. |
| ASN | Select a network where available. | A narrow filter can have fewer available peers. |
| Rotation | New exit selection across rotating requests. | Use for independent requests rather than a stateful login flow. |
| Sticky mode | Dashboard timer from 1 minute to 24 hours. | Treat continuity as dependent on the exit remaining available. |
| Export | Endpoint output and downloadable configuration formats. | Keep exported credentials out of public files and logs. |
The generated connection carries the settings
Selecting a country in the dashboard is not enough if your running application still uses old credentials. The generated username carries residential targeting options. After changing the location or session configuration, update the application and verify the resulting exit before running a large job.
If an exact city or ZIP selection stops working, remove one filter at a time and check whether a broader location succeeds. That helps distinguish limited peer availability from a broken account. Compare the requested location with the destination’s localization, which may also depend on cookies, language and stored preferences.
Sticky sessions need application state too
Use a stable session for related page visits when the task requires continuity. Keep cookies and other state consistent in the client. Reusing an IP while changing cookies or starting an unrelated browser context can still interrupt the workflow.
For concurrent independent workflows, separate their session identifiers. If a peer disappears, decide whether to restart that workflow rather than silently continuing with an unexpected exit. A timer extending to 24 hours is not permanent ownership of a residential address.
Management API and browser extension
Webshare documents proxy connections and provides an API for integration with your own tools. The practical benefit is repeatable configuration and automated connection management. It does not eliminate the need for your own retry policy, parser or data validation.
Webshare also advertises a Chrome proxy extension. It can simplify browser-based checks, but browser proxy configuration does not automatically route every application on the device. For unattended work, use the client’s supported proxy settings and verify that the intended requests actually follow that route.
A controlled first runSetup and Troubleshooting
- Select the product first.Write down whether you need datacenter, static ISP or rotating residential. Then choose the appropriate sharing level, traffic allowance and locations.
- Generate fresh credentials.Copy the dashboard-provided hostname, port, username, password and protocol. Keep API tokens separate from proxy credentials where the integration requires different secrets.
- Make one request.Verify the exit IP and expected country, then retrieve a permitted sample destination. Inspect the content, not just whether the connection succeeded.
- Check session behavior.Repeat a related request sequence with the intended sticky or rotating settings. Confirm how cookies and an unexpected exit change affect the task.
- Measure traffic before scaling.Compare the sample job with dashboard usage. Add bounded retries, timeouts, backoff and a spending cutoff before increasing workers.
| Symptom | Check first |
|---|---|
| Authentication failure / HTTP 407 | Credentials, authorized source IP, copied username parameters and selected port. |
| Proxy stops working mid-job | Actual allowance used, subscription status, connection errors and whether a cap has been reached. |
| Wrong location | Current generated settings, exit classification, cookies and application language. |
| Repeated challenge pages | Destination access requirements, request frequency, IP type and reputation. |
| Slow throughput | Client network, worker count, target response time, retries and any fair-use throttling. |
| Unexpected projected traffic | Actual transferred traffic versus the dashboard’s extrapolated usage estimate. |
Keep HTTPS certificate verification enabled. A certificate error should be investigated as a protocol or trust configuration problem; turning verification off can conceal a different issue. MDN’s explanation of proxy servers and tunneling helps distinguish forwarding, HTTP tunnels and the destination connection.
Assess the resultPerformance: What This Review Can Establish
This update does not provide a new measured success rate, response-time ranking or throughput result. The earlier numerical charts lacked enough reproducible context to retain as current evidence. Marketing network uptime and a destination’s successful response rate are also different measurements.
A request can connect quickly and still return a CAPTCHA, an empty page or the wrong locale. Even an HTTP 200 response can fail the business requirement. Define success in terms of required fields and usable content before you test the network.
- 1. ConnectAuthentication succeeds and the client reaches a suitable exit.
- 2. RetrieveThe destination responds within the agreed timeout and retry budget.
- 3. ValidateThe content has the required fields, location and completeness.
Run a fair pilot
Use representative destinations, the same client region, consistent headers, a fixed retry cap and the concurrency you expect in production. Record median and slow-tail completion times, accepted outputs, failed requests and billed traffic. Repeat during the hours your job normally runs.
Separate parser failures from network failures. If the HTML layout changes, switching proxies will not repair a broken extraction rule. Likewise, a destination that denies your use case is not a problem to solve by endlessly rotating addresses.
Calculate cost per usable result
Suppose a test spends $20 and returns 8,000 accepted records. Its cost is $2.50 per 1,000 useful records. If the same spend yields only 4,000, the cost doubles to $5. These are hypothetical arithmetic examples, not Webshare test results.
Calculation: spend ÷ accepted records × 1,000. Count retry traffic in spend and reject incomplete records consistently.
Our buying assessment is therefore conditional: Webshare’s published entry prices make it an economical service to test, but target compatibility, geographic accuracy and useful output determine its value for your project.
Trust and operationsPrivacy, Support and User Feedback
HTTP and SOCKS5 support should not be described as device-wide encryption or total anonymity. Use appropriate application encryption and remember that the provider operates infrastructure in your connection path. Dedicated allocation means less sharing with other customers, not that the provider becomes unable to associate usage with an account.
Webshare’s privacy policy describes collecting account and billing information, IP/online identifiers, usage data and communications. It also describes website/service analytics and certain identity-verification processing. This is not enough evidence for a blanket “collects no information” claim, and this review does not assert an independently audited no-logs policy.
For business use, ask for the documents that match your requirements: data handling, access controls, incident reporting and any relevant contractual assurances. Provider statements about ethically sourced peers are useful inputs, but we have not independently audited the residential sourcing chain.
What support should you expect?
The help center, connection documentation and support email provide documented routes for assistance. We did not time support responses or verify a contractual live-support guarantee. Rather than relying on an old claim that support is “email-only” or promising a specific response time, test the current channels available to your account.
Send a useful diagnostic report: product, timestamp, redacted error, destination category, protocol and steps to reproduce. Do not include passwords or private account data in public screenshots. If a job is time-sensitive, confirm escalation and response expectations before placing it on the service.
How to interpret customer reviews
A marketplace star average changes over time and mixes different products, locations and workloads. The previous review count and positive-review percentage are not presented as current measurements here. Look for recent feedback about the specific product you intend to use, including how the provider resolves a clearly described issue.
Reports of failed sites do not prove that every exit is unusable; equally, one positive free-tier experience does not establish production reliability. A small repeatable pilot gives you better buying evidence than an aggregate rating alone.
Before payingRenewal, Cancellation and Refund Conditions
Webshare says subscriptions renew automatically by default. Note the billing date and cancellation controls when purchasing for a one-off task. The availability of plan changes does not mean every change is free, preserves the same IPs or carries unused allowance forward; check the displayed terms before applying it.
The published refund FAQ requires cancellation within two days of the original payment, with active bandwidth usage below 1 GB for proxy-server/static-residential plans or below 0.1 GB for rotating residential, and fewer than 1,000 proxies used. These are conditional limits, not an unrestricted money-back trial. Read the full terms for your purchase and contact support promptly if the product is unsuitable.
For a residential pilot, 0.1 GB is a small amount. A handful of heavy browser pages can consume it quickly. Plan the evaluation before paying, record usage, and avoid assuming that a full day of automated testing remains refundable.
Before checkout, confirm the total, billing interval, traffic allowance, sharing level, locations and extras. Save the offer and any agreed conditions. Payment options and eligibility may vary by account or device, so use what the checkout actually offers instead of relying on an old payment-method list.
Where it fitsThe Best Webshare Use Cases
| Workload | Sensible starting point | The deciding check |
|---|---|---|
| Learning proxy integration | Free datacenter tier. | Authentication, exit verification and client compatibility. |
| Permitted bulk collection on datacenter-friendly sites | Shared datacenter pilot. | Useful responses per dollar and traffic allowance. |
| Localized public-page checks | Rotating residential with only the required filters. | Actual location availability and correct returned locale. |
| Authorized multi-step sessions | Sticky residential or static ISP, depending on continuity needs. | Cookies, exit stability and recovery when a peer changes. |
| Independent control of an allocated IP | Dedicated tier. | Exclusivity, prior reputation, replacement and target acceptance. |
| Large sustained transfers | An eligible unlimited plan with fair-use terms checked. | Throttling threshold, concurrency and measured useful throughput. |
Price monitoring, QA and market research are plausible uses, but the task still needs appropriate destination access and a sound data pipeline. RFC 9309 describes the robots.txt exclusion protocol and explains that its directives are not access authorization. Incorporate published crawler rules and the applicable access requirements into the application.
Webshare is less compelling when you expect the provider to return finished datasets, maintain all parsing logic or supply a particular managed browser workflow. It may still supply the proxy layer, but price your hosting and engineering effort alongside the connection bill.
Compare the right serviceWebshare Versus Other Providers
The old comparison mixed unlike per-IP plans, entry rates and unsupported success scores. A better shortlist compares the capability you need and the terms under which you can use it. The following alternatives retain the original providers while updating the buying context.
| Provider | Current comparison point | What to check against Webshare |
|---|---|---|
| Bright Data | Broader managed access and data products; raw proxy and API charges are separate. | Whether managed retrieval reduces enough operating work to justify the total cost. New residential access has eligibility requirements. |
| Oxylabs | Proxy infrastructure plus Web Unblocker, scraper and browser products. | Exact product, support arrangement and delivery responsibilities rather than a brand-wide speed claim. |
| Decodo (formerly Smartproxy) | Smartproxy now uses the Decodo brand and offers proxy and scraping products. | Current product configuration; avoid evaluating outdated Smartproxy price tables as separate offers. |
| IPRoyal | Its residential offer advertises traffic that does not expire. | For irregular usage, compare consumed-traffic cost with Webshare’s monthly reset, not just the headline bulk rate. |
For a focused comparison, read Webshare Proxy vs Bright Data Proxy or Webshare Proxy vs ProxyShare. Run the same targets, request volume and output validation when evaluating an alternative. Differences in retry handling can make two nominally similar plans produce different bills.
There is no automatic traffic threshold at which every buyer should upgrade to another provider. A large stable job can remain economical on basic proxy infrastructure, while a small complex task can justify managed retrieval. Let the pilot identify the requirement.
Balanced assessmentWebshare’s Strengths and Limitations
Strengths
- Low entry cost for shared datacenter access.
- Recurring free tier for integration checks.
- Small and larger residential monthly packages.
- Documented granular residential targeting and session controls.
- Multiple sharing levels and configurable bandwidth.
Limitations
- Monthly traffic does not roll over.
- Private and dedicated are different products.
- Unlimited options have eligibility and fair-use conditions.
- Your application still handles collection and validation.
- Refund limits require a tightly controlled evaluation.
Our assessment: the purchasing flexibility is useful when you understand the workload. The same flexibility can confuse a buyer who compares only the smallest price tag. Start by specifying what the task needs, then compare the complete configuration and the cost of validated results.

Good Proxy Value Starts With the Right Configuration
Webshare is worth shortlisting for affordable, configurable proxy access. Its free datacenter tier and small paid packages make a controlled evaluation practical, while current residential targeting gives it more flexibility than older reviews suggest.
Choose the network and sharing level deliberately. Check monthly consumption, fair use and renewal before committing. If your pilot delivers the required content at an acceptable total cost, Webshare can be a sensible long-term choice; if it leaves too much retrieval work to your team, compare a managed service.
